Metabolism I

Growing up on the small island of Vis, Croatia, Alma Čače found inspiration in its distinctive beauties, repeatedly returning to its pebble beaches, white cliffs, and crystal blue sea. The “Metabolism” series is, thus, an ode to creative exploration of the intersection between nature, art and expressions of one’s inner world. 

Using handmade brushes crafted from driftwood and different herbs and wild plants, Čače captures the rhythmic dialogue between land and sea, turning her native island’s terrain into a dynamic, evolving canvas. Some paintings even contain preserved residue from her recycled brushes, keeping the bits and pieces of nature safe in the embrace of the colors that fill the canvas.
