Stanko Ivanković
Stanko Ivanković explores the quiet tension between the individual and the world around them, pausing at places where the boundaries between the known and the unknown become blurred, and human presence feels both distant and deeply felt.
The emotions his works evoke recall the dreamlike stillness and haunting solitude of Giorgio de Chirico’s metaphysical scenes, as well as the strange, uncanny familiarity found in René Magritte’s world of displaced objects. Just like these artists, Ivanković creates spaces that seem to hover between wakefulness and dream—figures, objects, and spaces carry a quiet unease, as though caught in the quitness between those two thoughts.
In his paintings, silence sharpens the edges of reality, and familiar things seem to shed their daylight meaning, revealing a second, more secret life. This feeling—a confrontation with a world that shifts when the gaze slips away or the light fades—is one of the central motives driving Ivanković’s artistic work.
